Facebook Filth

The things some people post on Facebook are pretty repulsive! Facebook has made it so that suddenly some people feel they need no filter. They say cruel things to and about other people. They post nasty and inappropriate things. They share crude jokes and obscene photos. They slam and judge everyone else. I’ve always told my kids not to post anything on Facebook that they wouldn’t put on a billboard on the highway – but I’m afraid that these days some people would be just fine posting their Facebook filth on a billboard on the highway.

Jesus said that we will have to give an account for every careless word we have spoken (Matthew 12:36), and I have no doubt that we will also be accountable for every careless thing we have posted. Remember – what you say (or post) flows from what is in your heart. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, then he is in your heart. Would Jesus want to be your Facebook friend?

“The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.” – Luke 6:45
