With all that is going on in the world around us, it’s hard not to get bogged down with fear and despair. That is exactly what our enemy is hoping we will do. Fear paralyzes. Despair immobilizes. He knows we will have little impact on the world if we are frozen in place.
When the Apostle Paul was commissioning his protégé, Timothy, he told him to remember Jesus. Timothy was called to reach people with the gospel, and Paul knew he’d run into roadblocks. He knew there would be times when Timothy might be tempted to throw in the towel because the realities around him would be more than he could handle. But Timothy knew the truth. (2 Timothy 3:14-15) He knew the power and freedom in Christ. He just needed to continually call Jesus to mind.
Remember Jesus Christ [the ever-living Lord who has] risen from the dead, [as the prophesied King] descended from David [king of Israel], according to my gospel [the good news that I preach] – 2 Timothy 2:8 The Amplified Translation
The same is true for us. When things in the world around us seem to be spiraling out of control, we must remember Jesus!
