Know the Bible

Know the Bible! If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior – you must have a Biblical worldview. It doesn’t feel like it’s a prevailing worldview these days – but it is the only worldview that will stand the test of time – to eternity! Other worldviews change with the ebb and flow of societal norms. What seems good and true one day is suddenly opposed the next. But God and his Word will never change.

The only way to ensure that you and your family gain and adhere to a Biblical worldview is to know the Bible. The only way to know the Bible is to read it – every day, over and over! And the best way to ensure that it permeates your mind and soul is to memorize scriptures. The words of God will provide support in times of struggle; answers in times of confusion; hope in times of sadness and delight in times of joy! It will give you guidance in your everyday life and help you to guide others. It will help you to pray and it will help you to praise! Being able to recall verses no matter where you are and whether or not you have a Bible in front of you will be your lifeline!

However it works for you and your family – do it! Give yourself and them the gift of a heart full of God’s word with a sure answer to combat the lies that Satan will throw our way throughout life.

When I’m praying for the safety and protection of someone I love…

For he will order his angels to protect you where you go. Psalm 91:11

When I don’t understand why something happened…

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God ad are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28

When I want to remind myself of the importance of imparting the words of God to my children…

Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Deuteronomy 6:7

When I want to remember the fruit that should be evident in my life as a Christian…

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:23

When I’ve had a rough day and want to remind myself that tomorrow will be a fresh start…

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentation 3:22 & 23

When I need to remind myself to quit worrying about what might happen tomorrow and focus on today…

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34

When I want to remind myself that the I’m on the right side…

“I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

There’s so many more, too! Obviously – the Bible has over 30,000 verses! And your mental log might look different than mine.

Make it a goal to read the Bible every day. Even for five minutes. Pray that God will speak to you. That he will give you a message for your life. And then as you read, if a verse hits you – write it down and set out to memorize it. Buy some index cards and write the verse down on one. Carry it with you in your purse or wallet. Keep looking at it until it’s “hidden in your heart”. (Psalm 119:11) God is the one who gave us a mind with the capacity to remember so much. What do you think he’d like to see us fill it with?
